It will be the first full-speed Keeneland meet since Fall 2019 before COVID interrupted the biannual fun at our favorite track. “Keeneland is thrilled to welcome greater numbers of fans back to the track for what promises to be a terrific Fall Meet,” Keeneland President and CEO Shannon Arvin announced Thursday. “We look forward to being together again as a community and watching great Thoroughbred racing in this beautiful surrounding. As we look ahead to Keeneland’s 85th anniversary this fall, we know reconnecting with those people and places that are special to us will be even more meaningful.” A look back at all of the Keeneland we missed, the 2020 Spring Meet was canceled in its entirety soon after we began the two weeks to flatten the curve, marking the first time Keeneland didn't run since World War II. Then when the pandemic lasted much longer than anyone imagined, Keeneland was forced to close its 2020 Fall Meet to the public, only essential personnel. A month later, Keeneland was set to host the Breeders' Cup for the second time, but again the race course was severely limited in capacity for the world championships of horse racing. The Breeders' Cup will return in 2022 for a redo. The gates finally opened to the pubic this past spring, but again with a reduced crowd. Now, finally, we get Keeneland the way God intended for Fall 2021. Tickets will go on sale to the public on Monday, August 16. The meet will be held October 8 through 30.
