The high school football season is up and running. This past Friday was another fun one.

Over at Lexington Catholic, the Knights won a thriller over Pulaski Couty in KSR’s Game of the Week. Elsewhere, some prominent Kentucky recruits were making some plays.

KSR has all of the Friday Night updates.

Dane Key, Ty Bryant score touchdowns in blowout win

Frederick Douglass (Ky.) High is off to a 2-0 start to the 2021 season following a 51-0 win over Tates Creek on Friday. Quarterback Samuel Cornett threw for 218 yards while a pair of Kentucky recruits scored touchdowns.

Junior athlete Ty Bryant scored on a rushing touchdown from 29 yards out after recording an interception last week. Meanwhile, senior receiver Dane Key hauled in a receiving touchdown from Cornett.

Bryant is committed to the Wildcats to play defensive back for Mark Stoops while Vince Marrow is still recruiting Key to join the 2022 class. The blue-chip wideout remains the top target on Kentucky’s recruiting board.

Kentucky commit Treyveon Longmire provides explosive play

Corbin (Ky.) High hit the road on Friday night and traveled to Williamsburg to take on Whitley County. The Redhounds rolled to a 45-0 win behind two touchdown passes from freshman Kade Elam.

One of those scores was a 70-yard touchdown for four-star wide receiver Treyveon Longmire. This highly-ranked commit will be playing wideout at Kentucky and is showing some playmaking ability early in his senior season.

Andre Stewart, North Cobb take down top-ranked team

Kentucky went into Metro Atlanta to earn a commitment from Andre Stewart earlier this offseason. The top-500 recruit was a nice recruiting win and he plays for one of the best high school teams in the country.

On Friday night, Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb knocked off top-ranked Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton with ESPN in the house.

Stewart has been excellent at cornerback to start the season and Kentucky is still trying to recruit EDGE Joshua Josephs from the same high school. Michigan and Steve Clinkscale are also trying to get both players in their 2021 recruiting class.

Expect many Kentucky and Michigan recruiting battles moving forward.
