[caption id="attachment_178975" align="aligncenter" width="600"](UK Athletics) UK Athletics[/caption] Dominic Taccolini went 10 innings for the Hogs on the mound as Arkansas won 1-0 over UK. Chad Spanberger hit a lead-off home run in the 10th inning against Zack Brown to put Arkansas ahead for good. Brown went 9.2 innings, dominating the Razorbacks for all but one pitch. Tyler Marshall had three of Kentucky's five hits while filling in at second base. Kentucky is now 23-14 (9-7) on the season. Here are the notes from tonight's loss.

Taccolini was great

Arkansas' starter struck out ten over ten innings while allowing five hits and walking none. Taccolini threw 125 pitches, 84 for strikes in the complete game shutout. This is the second straight weekend that Kentucky has been shutout by the opposing starting pitcher after Jordan Sheffield's dominant performance last week.

Zack Brown gave another fantastic performance

After a rough stretch to open SEC play, Brown has been great on Friday's. Brown went 9.2 innings, striking out six against Arkansas. He saved several runs by fielding his position and making great plays with runners in scoring position. He was hitting 94 late in the start and threw 81 strikes out of 115 pitches. But once again, Brown got zero run support. Brown has not gotten more than three runs in support since UK's series against Tennessee.

T-Marsh kept us in the game

Marshall found three hits in a spot start at second. All three hits were singles, but he was the only player to consistently barrel up the ball. I wouldn't be surprised if Marshall starts at third or second at least once tomorrow. JaVon Shelby struck out three more times and saw his average drop to .206 this season.

The 10th inning rally fell short

Riley Mahan singled to lead off the inning and then took second on a pitch in the dirt. Shelby struck out and then Marshall singled. Mahan was held at third and the Cats would not get another opportunity to score. Taccolini was too much for UK on Friday. Kentucky has a doubleheader against Arkansas tomorrow starting at noon. Dustin Beggs will take game one and Kyle Cody will go in game two. Both games will be available online at SECN+. Let's break this slump.
