Kentucky expected to play Morehead State in season-opening MTE

by:Jack Pilgrim10/06/20
After initially finalizing a multi-team pod event in Lexington with Richmond, Detroit Mercy, and Hartford, Kentucky was forced to go back to the drawing board when Hartford pulled out late last week. Adam Zagoria first broke the news on Friday afternoon that Hartford would not participate in the bubble event, leaving UK scrambling for a replacement option. Luckily for the program, they didn't have to search far, as Morehead State has emerged as the anticipated addition to the MTE. KSR's own Matt Jones first broke the news on his radio show that Morehead State was the likely option. "Sources tell KSR, and this isn't official yet, [the Hartford game] will likely be replaced by Morehead State," Jones said in the first hour of Monday's show. This morning, college basketball insider Jeff Goodman confirmed the news, noting that Kentucky's pod in Lexington will now include Richmond, who was set to make the NCAA Tournament this past year and is expected to be a top-15 team in 2020-21, along with Brad Calipari's Detroit Mercy squad and the in-state Morehead State Eagles. According to the report, the games will take place on Nov. 25, 27, and 29. https://twitter.com/GoodmanHoops/status/1313497708603289602?s=20 With this news, here is Kentucky's updated 27-game schedule for the upcoming 2020-21 season:
