Kentucky football remains a top 10 football program in the country.

Coming off a 31-0 shutout victory over FCS opponent Youngstown State on Saturday, Kentucky made a slight move in the standings. On Sunday, the Associated Press updated its national rankings ahead of Week 4 which saw the Wildcats jump Oklahoma State to No. 8 overall. The Cowboys are coming off a 63-7 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff over the weekend but were still leapfrogged by UK in the AP Poll.

Earlier on Sunday, the AFCA Coaches Poll for Week 4 was unveiled, with Kentucky locking down the No. 8 ranking. It was a one-spot bump from last week’s Coaches Poll rankings. Not long before that, ESPN updated its Week 3 Power Rankings where Kentucky made another move in the standings, going from No. 9 to No. 7.

Looking at ESPN’s fresh Football Power Index (FPI) numbers, Kentucky didn’t impress the advanced statistics. The ‘Cats fell from No. 22 to No. 26 despite the shutout win. That being said, Kentucky’s expected season win total did see a minor spike to an average of 8.3.

Across the Southeastern Conference, Kentucky comes in as the third-best school according to the AP Poll. Georgia and Alabama hold down the top two spots respectively while Arkansas also barely cracked the top 10. Other ranked SEC programs include Tennessee (No. 11), Ole Miss (No. 16), Florida (No. 20), and Texas A&M (No. 23).
