Camp season continued at Kentucky on Thursday as the Wildcats hosted their third camp of the summer recruiting period. KSR was allowed in and took in the entire 90-minute workout. There were two primary targets that got a ton of attention as a pair of key in-state targets were in attendance.

Just like we have done after Sunday and Tuesday, KSR is here to provide a detailed recap of the event. From everything we saw on site to some recruiting buzz that we’re hearing regarding a huge recruiting weekend in Lexington. KSR has you covered as summer recruiting season heats up.

Let’s get this party started.

Gavin Chadwell makes a second camp stop

Barbourville (Ky.) Knox Central tight end Gavin Chadwell has been a name on the Kentucky football recruiting radar for a long time. Chadwell has been seen on the basketball court beating Reed Sheppard’s team and was camp participant at Kentucky last season.

After making a trip to Notre Dame earlier this summer to workout for Marcus Freeman’s staff, Chadwell made the trip to Lexington to camp at Kentucky. The 2024 prospect certainly looks the part.

Chadwell is a legit 6-foot-4 and over 230 pounds who moves north/south very well. Improving agility will be key for the prospect moving forward, but there is little doubt that this is a player that looked like he belonged on an SEC practice field.

Expect the in-state prospect to remain a prospect of note as the class of 2024 picture starts to become more clear.

Tristan Cook looks to earn offer

Versailles (Ky.) Woodford County offensive lineman Tristan Cook has not yet earned an offer from Kentucky, but the rising 2023 prospect is not shying away from camps this summer. After taking trips to Purdue and Wisconsin, Cook was in Lexington to work out for Kentucky.

Seen mostly at guard, Cook held up well in power scenarios but did have some problems with slowing down a speed rush. It’s unclear at the moment if Cook will earn that offer from the in-state SEC program. Expect him to stay on Zach Yenser’s radar as the Wildcats look to fill out their 2023 class.

Cook has informed KSR that the Kentucky staff wants him to camp again. Keep that in mind as another trip to Lexington could be made for the unranked prospect.

Angelo McCullom pops

Angelo McCullom came south from the Columbus metro area as the unranked 2024 prospect got to work with Kentucky defensive line coach Anwar Stewart. The Lewis Center (Ohio) Olentangy junior was perhaps the most impressive performer at camp.

McCullom flashed some legit explosiveness as a three-technique and was seen going one-on-one with Cook throughout the camp. The prospect does not have an offer from the Wildcats yet but was seen speaking with Stewart after camp.

This is a name to keep an eye on.

Official visit buzz

The coaches were focusing on the prospect in attendance on Thursday, but there was no hiding from the fact that there is some big anticipation for this weekend. Kentucky is set to host most of its commitments for official visits.

However, the Wildcats have some other targets emerging.

Four-star wide receiver Karmello English has announced that the Phenix City (Ala.) Central product is taking an official visit to Lexington this weekend while both Alabama and Auburn remain in hot pursuit. Florence (Ala.) Mars Hill Bible School offensive lineman Koby Keenum and Melbourne (Fla.) Eau Gallie cornerback Robert Stafford will also be in attendance.

However, we’re not done compiling names. KSR learned of two while in attendance on Thursday.

Philadelphia Roman Catholic offensive lineman Austin Ramsey is a big body (6-3, 365) and the three-star prospect will be making the trip to Kentucky for an official visit. During camp, the prospect made it official.

Ramsey has a reported 83-inch wingspan and took visits to Boston College, Pittsburgh, Penn State Rutgers, and West Virginia since January. However, Kentucky will get the first official visit and will look to make a strong impression.

At running back, Kentucky has a clear need in the class of 2023. The Wildcats are looking to possibly address it this weekend. Khalifa Keith is currently unranked in the On3 Consensus, but the Birmingham (Ala.) Parker running back is receiving legit Power Five interest. Keith visited Georgia Tech on Thursday and camped at Florida State last weekend.

Kentucky issued an offer to the prospect on May 19 as the Wildcats may look to make a quick move to add a 200-plus pound tailback into the fold.

Expect the recruiting buzz and scoop to continue throughout the weekend as the Wildcats look to add some commitments.

Class of 2022 has arrived

On Wednesday, videos started to be released showing that Kentucky’s summer enrollees have arrived on campus. On Thursday, KSR saw a few of them on the sidelines while camp was taking place.

Kobi Albert, Barion Brown, Jackson Smith, Destin Wade, and Keaten Wade were among the players out on the practice fields.

Get excited because football is coming. KSR will be back out at the Joe Craft Football Training Facility on Sunday when Kentucky hosts their next summer camp.
