This is not the game we thought it would be over the summer. Heck, it’s not the game we thought it might be a week ago. The BBN is deflated following Kentucky‘s loss to Vanderbilt at home. Instead of getting excited about a Top 25 matchup with the No. 1 team in the country, many may not even tune in to watch the Wildcats host Georgia on CBS.

The Defending National Champions lost a handful of first round draft picks, yet the defense isn’t missing a beat. They rank in the top six in scoring defense, rushing defense and total defense. Don’t be fooled, these Dawgs aren’t just going to maul you to death. They can also put up some points. With Stetson Bennett running the show for Todd Monken, they rank in the top six in points per game (40.6) and yards per game (509.6).

Kentucky needed a get right game against Vanderbilt to gain momentum going into this tall task. After an embarrassing loss, this game feels like a buzz saw. Hopefully this pessimistic preview appears foolish 24 hours from now, but that’s just wishful thinking.

Kentucky vs. Georgia: TV, Radio and Point Spread

Kentucky is a 22.5-point underdog against Georgia with a total set at 48. Kentucky is 6-4 against the spread (ATS) this season, and Georgia is 8-2 ATS. The under is 9-1 in Kentucky games and 7-3 in Georgia games. UK is 12-3-1 ATS in its last 16 games as an underdog with eight outright wins.

Brad Nessler, Gary Danielson and Jenny Dell will be on the call for CBS. The Wildcats are 0-5 in SEC on CBS games under Mark Stoops. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 pm EST. If you can’t attend the game or stream the Cats, you can always listen to the Voice of the Wildcats, Tom Leach, and Jeff Piecoro.

A Much-Needed Hype Video

The editors wisely omitted any footage of the Vanderbilt game from this montage.

One video will not inspire the team, so Mark Stoops brought in a guy that should be able to touch all of the right buttons. Friday afternoon former boxing champ Buster Douglas stopped by the Joe Craft Football Training Facility to share his experience as an underdog with the Wildcats. A 42-1 long shot in 1990, Douglas was moments away from losing to Mike Tyson in the 8th round of the Heavyweight Title bout. Douglass rallied and delivered a knockout blow to the undisputed, undefeated champ in the tenth round, arguably the greatest upset in boxing history. That lesson should resonate today for the Wildcats.

Stoops Still Winless vs. Georgia

Mark Stoops has knocked down plenty of doors as the Wildcats’ head coach. One big one remains in the SEC East: Georgia. Stoops is 0-9 against the Bulldogs and only one game in this series has been a one-score contest, a 27-24 loss at Kroger Field in Kirby Smart’s first season in Athens.

Today’s Kentucky Football Uniforms

The Wildcats are busting out the anthracite uniforms for the first time this season. UK is 6-3 when wearing the all-grey uniforms.
