Coming off the program’s first shutout performance in 13 years, Kentucky football made a slight jump in the national rankings.

On Sunday afternoon, the AFCA Coaches Poll bumped the Wildcats up one spot to No. 9 in the country. Kentucky (3-0) jumped the previous No. 9 Michigan State, which lost to Washington on Saturday and dropped all the way down to No. 21. UK took down FCS opponent Youngstown State by a final score of 31-0 on Saturday in Lexington.

Earlier on Sunday, ESPN updated its Week 3 Power Rankings where Kentucky made another move in the standings, going from No. 9 to No. 7. Looking at ESPN’s updated Football Power Index (FPI) numbers, Kentucky didn’t impress the advanced statistics. The ‘Cats fell from No. 22 to No. 26 despite the shutout win. That being said, Kentucky’s expected season win total did see a minor spike to an average of 8.3.

Looking at the rest of the Southeastern Conference, Kentucky is the third-highest-ranked program behind Georgia (No. 1) and Alabama (No. 2). Arkansas is right behind the ‘Cats at No. 10 while Tennessee (No. 12), Ole Miss (No. 13), Texas A&M (No. 20), and Florida (No. 22) round out the rest of the SEC’s nationally ranked schools.

The AP Poll will be released later on Sunday.
