Kentucky Enters the Race for Transfer Portal Tight End
Kentucky only has one more week to add new players from the transfer portal. That’s not stopping them from pursuing players who are just entering free agency.
Rohan Jones was a late entrant into the transfer portal. That’s because earlier this week he was playing in the FCS Championship Game for Montana State. He caught three passes for 19 yards and a touchdown for the Bobcats, who ultimately fell 35-32 to North Dakota State, their first loss of the season.
On Thursday, Jones shared on social media that he would enter the transfer portal. A few hours later, he shared that he received a scholarship offer from Kentucky.

A 6-foot-3, 235-pound tight end, the Canadian started his career at Maine. After two years with the Black Bears, he transferred to Montana State ahead of the 2024 season. He made the most of it. Jones was one of the most targeted players on one of the best teams in the FCS. He caught 30 passes for 490 yards and nine touchdowns, the latter of which ranked in the Top 25 in the FCS ranks.
Jones has one year of eligibility remaining. In addition to the offer from Kentucky, Louisville, Houston, Wake Forest, UCLA, North Carolina, and Arkansas are recruiting the talented pass-catcher. The Cats already added one tight end this offseason, Illinois’ Henry Boyer, but you can consider him a run-blocking specialist. The Kentucky passing game needs weapons. It doesn’t matter if they’re wide receivers or versatile tight ends. Jones fits the billing for the latter.
