We’re less than 24 hours away from a potentially huge addition to the future of the Big Blue Wall. Aamil Wagner, a four-star class of 2022 offensive tackle out of Dayton, OH, is set to announce his college decision on Thursday, Nov. 11 around 2:30 p.m. EST.

The 6-foot-6, 265-pounder is down to just five schools: Kentucky, Penn State, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Maryland. UK associate head coach Vince Marrow has been the lead recruiter for Wagner and the ‘Cats appear to be in great shape to receive a commitment.

Wagner is ranked by On3 as a consensus top 150 prospect in his class. He would immediately become Kentucky’s second-best commit behind five-star OT Kiyaunta Goodwin if he picks the ‘Cats.

According to On3 recruiting editor Jeremy Crabtree, Kentucky and Penn State are the two programs in the lead for Wagner. However, Crabtree indicates that UK is still the team to beat as we head down the final stretch.

The appeal of Kentucky goes beyond the Big Blue Wall for Wagner, though. The family atmosphere created by both Marrow and head coach Mark Stoops has made Wagner feel at home already.

“I think the whole atmosphere with Coach Stoops and Coach Marrow have done a great job of making it not just about football but a family-type atmosphere. I think that helps a lot,” Wagner’s head coach at Wayne High School, Roosevelt Mukes, told KSR on Wednesday about Wagner’s interest in UK. “The fact that his brother played wide receiver there so he’s familiar with the staff and how they took care of his brother when he was playing there.”

Kentucky increased its chances of landing Wagner when the staff went out and added his older brother Ahmad as a graduate assistant over the offseason. Ahmad was a wide receiver with the ‘Cats from 2018-19.

Adding Aamil Wagner would only build on what is shaping up to be a historic offensive line class. Kentucky already has Goodwin (5-star), Grant Bingham (4-star), and Nikolas Hall (3-star) in the fold with more potentially on the way.

Get those dice ready, folks…
