Kentucky High School Basketball is Back...

by:Ally Tucker08/13/13
(Things are just a little different in the state of Kentucky...) The state of Kentucky has long been known for its basketball tradition of excellence and passion. Between the University of Kentucky's gold standard basketball program, and the KHSAA Sweet Sixteen--which is one of the most highly anticipated high school state championships in the country... basketball is the king pin in the Bluegrass. Between Louisville and Kentucky's recent success in college basketball, along with the growth of programs such as Murray State, Morehead State and Bellarmine, the college side of the prominence and excellence has been holding up its end of the bargain. The high school side of things though has been a little down in recent years in the state of Kentucky. Kentucky has been producing a player or two each year (ex: Scotty Hopson, Darius Miller, Jon Hood, Dominique Hawkins) who fall into the category of a "high profile Division I prospect," but the overall talent pool has been a bit down in recent years. The next two to three classes in the state of Kentucky though are loaded with more talent than we've seen lately, and many of these players are drawing serious Division I consideration. With the increase in talent across the state, and the success of guys like Jarrod Polson and the anticipated success of Dominique Hawkins at Kentucky, will we see a few of these names pop up in the future as Kentucky Wildcats?
