John Calipari and the UK coaching staff continue to put the full-court press on 2021 five-star point guard Kennedy Chandler.

This afternoon, Kentucky’s full staff hosted Chandler on a virtual visit, meeting with the 6-foot-1 junior and his parents.

Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers.com was the first to break the news.

Back in April, Chandler trimmed his list to five, with Duke, Kentucky, Memphis, North Carolina, and Tennessee all making the final cut.

Chandler, a native of Memphis, TN, is considered the No. 13 overall prospect and No. 1 point guard in the 2021 247Sports Composite Rankings. Rivals has him listed at No. 10 overall and the No. 1 point guard in the junior class.

Back in March, Chandler joined KSR’s Sources Say Podcast to discuss his interest in the Kentucky program and his recent unofficial visit to Lexington, where he met former UK star John Wall.

“I had a great time when I went down there,” Chandler told KSR. “It was my second time for me going [to Lexington], I went last year when Kentucky played Tennessee. Me going again, I just had a really fun time down there and it was a great game. … [Kentucky] feels like I’m a good fit in a solid program. They feel the way they play is the style of basketball I play.”

Regarding his conversation with John Wall, Chandler said the former Wildcat superstar gave him plenty of good advice about his recruitment and provided a solid pitch of the Kentucky program.

“Yeah, I met with him as soon as I got to [Rupp Arena] before the game started,” Chandler said. “He just told me about the program, John Calipari, and how you have to fight for your position at Kentucky. There are no guaranteed positions. You go hard in practice and you’re going to get better every day in practice. He just told me that Kentucky is a school I should be at [when I make a decision].”

According to Chandler, having players around the UK program like Wall there to help during the recruiting process is a big help for the Wildcats.

“It shows me that Kentucky is a great school to be at,” the five-star guard told KSR. “The stuff John Wall told me really made it feel like it would be a good fit and a good school for somebody like me to be at. I’m glad we had a good talk.”

When asked about potentially teaming up with 2021 top-ten prospects Paolo Banchero and Jaden Hardy – arguably Kentucky’s top two targets in the junior class – Chandler thinks it would be “phenomenal.”

“Oh man, if that ever happened, I feel like that would be a great team to play with,” Chandler said. “Me, Jaden [Hardy], and Paolo [Banchero], man. I played with both of them at USA [Basketball Camp], so I feel that we have a good connection. If that happens, that would be phenomenal.”
