Kentucky is home to the 5th Most Beautiful Woman in the World

by:Matt Jones07/23/06
Well for those of you may have missed it last night, Kentuckian Tara Conner, pride of Russell Springs, Kentucky, came in fifth place in the Miss Universe Pageant. I spent part of the evening (at least when Entourage was not on), watching the pageant and I pulled for our Bluegrass Girl, but in the end she came up a little short, losing to Miss Puerto Rico. The Puerto Rican win further cemented my suspicion of that island and its sudden emergence on the world stage. Puerto Ricans have taken over baseball and dance music and now that they have won the "world's most beautiful woman" contest, we should officially begin United Nations' inquiries to determine if they are on the juice. The night was very entertaining, highlighted for me by the commentary of Carson from "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" who ragged on the girls' hair and looks during the bikini and evening gown competitions, including focusing on the fact that Miss Paraguay had a "wedgie". I have grown (thanks to the Turkey Hunter and Mosley) to love these contests and have found that I have a knack for picking the winners. But tonight showed me that my talents are purely domestic as my picks, (Bolivia, Canada and Sweden) failed to make the top 5. It was a great night however for the Bluegrass state, although Conner's 5th place finish means that once again, Tubby Smith has yet to put the state in a Final 4 with his own players. ;)
