Kentucky Jumps Out Big, Never Looks Back

by:Will Lentz02/19/11

Kentucky = Scottie Pippen. USC = Justin Bieber.

In what was no doubt one of the best games this years Kentucky team has played, they dominated a skidding South Carolina team 90-59.  Kentucky jumped out to a 15-0 lead before South Carolina managed to score, and they were leading by 29 at the half.  The second half was a bit more even, but only because at that point the game was completely out of reach for the Gamecocks.  Miller had what most would consider his best game of his career, throwing up 22 points 9 boards and 3 blocks, while Terrence Jones posted a quiet double double (19 points and 12 boards.)  5 cats scored in the double digits, Harrelson being the only one in the 6 man rotation not to make it to double figures, but he still had a good game with 6 points and 9 boards.  Make no mistake, this South Carolina team is not great – and they haven’t been playing their best basketball anyways.  But if Kentucky can continue to shoot like they did today and put the effort in on the defensive side, or even perform half of that on the road, this team will have a lot of games left to play.

More with me later, and more with Matt on the radio in about an hour.  Until then, enjoy the lopsided win.
