The No. 12 Kentucky Wildcats lead the No. 2 Auburn Tigers on the road at halftime, and they’re doing so without a starting guard.

Freshman TyTy Washington went down with a left ankle injury with 8:20 to go in the half, landing awkwardly on a floater in the paint. He was helped off the floor and taken back to the locker room, where he was later shown walking on his own with a slight limp.

Washington was later ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Elsewhere, Sahvir Wheeler leads Kentucky with eight points on 3-7 shooting, followed by Kellan Grady with seven points, Oscar Tshiebwe with six points and eight rebounds and Washington, Keion Brooks Jr. and Jacob Toppin all with four points.

As a team, the Wildcats are shooting 48.3 percent from the field (14-29), but 14 percent from three (1-7).

“We really scrambled defensively, didn’t give them anything easy,” John Calipari said at the half. “… We’re doing good though. I like what we’re seeing. They’re a good team, they’re really good and this is an unbelievable environment.”

Auburn is led by Walker Kessler with 11 points and Jabari Smith with seven points. The Tigers are shooting 54.5 percent from the field (12-22) and 33.3 percent from three (2-6).
