Kentucky OL Ben Christman Enters the Transer Portal
The transfer portal dominoes continue to fall for Kentucky before it officially opens for business on Monday, Dec. 9. Ben Christman is the latest to reveal he is leaving Mark Stoops’ program.
On3’s Pete Nakos reports Christman has entered the portal as a grad transfer. With a medical waiver, he can have up to two years of eligibility remaining.
A 6-foot-6, 325-pound interior offensive lineman, the Akron native was a consensus four-star recruit when he signed with Ohio State in the 2021 recruiting class. He redshirted as a freshman, then only played in one game in 2022 before he hit the portal.
The addition of Christman was considered a big win for the Wildcats when he arrived to play for Zach Yenser ahead of the 2023 season. He was competing for a starting spot at offensive guard when he suffered a season-ending knee injury in fall camp. Christman rehabilitated his injury but was never considered as a part of the rotation in 2024 for Eric Wolford.

Christman is the second Kentucky offensive lineman to enter the transfer portal this offseason. Just like Courtland Ford, he started his career elsewhere and joined the team ahead of the 2023 season.
Kentucky has lost 13 players, but according to Luckett’s scholarship count, there are only currently only four available roster spots. In order to have a big transfer portal haul, we’ll need to see twice as many departures in the near future.
