Kentucky opens as double-digit favorite against South Carolina

Kentucky football is coming off a disappointing loss, but a great opportunity to keep the long-term momentum moving forward will present itself next weekend.

The Wildcats will be back in Lexington as double-digit favorites for the Saturday, Oct. 8 showdown against South Carolina. Kentucky opened up as a 10-point favorite to beat the Gamecocks, according to Circa Sports, but the line has already been bet up to 11 in favor of UK. The over-under is currently listed at 48.5.

Various betting sites have Kentucky anywhere from a 10- to 13-point favorite. Fanduel has the ‘Cats as an 11.5-point favorite while DraftKings has is set at 10.5. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST on the SEC Network.

According to ESPN’s Football Power Index, Kentucky currently has a 76.1 percent chance to beat South Carolina. UK is 4-1-0 against the spread this season while USC is 2-3-0 on the season and 0-1-0 as the road underdog. Kentucky is 2-1-0 against the spread as the home favorite.

Kentucky is coming off its lone loss of the 2022 season so far, a 22-19 heartbreaking defeat to the now-No. 9 ranked Ole Miss Rebels. UK came into the game on Saturday as a touchdown underdog and managed to cover. The ‘Cats will hope to cover once again next weekend, but with a different outcome in the win-loss column.
