Kentucky Pulls Away from Kent State 56-20

612-2ndhalf_embedded_prod_affiliate_79.jpg It was another exciting, if occasionally frustrating, night at Commonwealth Stadium as the Cats took over in the second half and won 59-20 last night against the Golden Flashes. The Cats generally looked very good on offense, especially in their running attack as the combination of Little, Dixon, Smith and Conner wore down Kent State throughout the game. But the game was much closer for the vast majority of the night than the final score would indicate. Kent State had the opportunity in first half to go into the locker room with the lead, but poor clock management and a good defensive stand kept that from happening. In the second half, Woodson was crisp, the defense hit hard and the special teams were solid, thus leading to the victory. We will have more later in the afternoon, including a review of the other games of the day (gosh darn you Auburn!). For now, enjoy the start of the NFL.
