Kentucky pursuing ANOTHER point guard for next season

Tyrese Maxey, the No. 2 point guard in the 2019 class, is one of the two possible additions to next year's roster, and we can now say it thanks to a new report from Kyle Tucker, who spoke to Maxey about the possibility of becoming a Wildcat. There has been a lot of talk about Maxey reclassifying and committing to Kentucky, and now the five-star prospect confirms it is a serious option for his basketball future. “Me and Coach Cal have talked about [reclassifying] multiple times," Maxey told Tucker. "He’s just saying it would be a great opportunity for me to be a part of this special team that he’s building for next season.”

For those wondering: yes, a Maxey commitment would mean Calipari went out and got the two best point guards in the 2019 class. Maxey is ranked right behind Ashton Hagans, who committed yesterday, and they each heard the same pitch about reclassifying and joining something special in Lexington next fall. In fact, Calipari visited them on the same day last week. Even if Maxey holds off on reclassifying to play his senior season, UK is still the favorite to land his services. The only other school in contention is SMU, where his father was hired as the director of recruiting last fall. But there's a lot of noise about Maxey joining the offseason roster mayhem at Kentucky, which would make for an insane backcourt.
