There was much chatter surrounding Lexington (Ky.) Christian Academy quarterback Cutter Boley on Thursday. The top-25 prospect in the class of 2025 is beginning to look like Kentucky’s to lose as this in-state recruitment is starting to pick up steam.

Kentucky offensive coordinator Liam Coen isn’t putting all the program’s eggs in one basket, however. The Wildcats are behind the eight-ball when it comes to recruiting class of 2024 quarterbacks, but there are a plethora of quality options in 2025.

Harrisburg (Pa.) Bishop McDevitt quarterback Stone Saunders is a top-200 prospect that visited Kentucky on junior day in April and has shown some high interest in the Cats. Findlay (Ohio) High quarterback Ryan Montgomery is a top-150 recruit that made a return trip to Lexington on Thursday.

Per On3’s recruiting database, Montgomery has visited UK four times since June and was back in Lexington this week after being on campus in January for junior day. On3’s Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons reports that the blue-chip quarterback is scheduled to take visits to Clemson, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina over the next week. The Northwest Ohio native swung by Kentucky first to begin this spring break recruiting tour.

Recruiting high school quarterbacks has been an issue for much of the Mark Stoops era at Kentucky. After getting some big transfer portal recruiting wins, Liam Coen is attempting to fix that problem. Some great options are emerging in the class of 2025.

Recruiting never stops.
