Kentucky Ranks 14th in Latest KenPom Rankings

by:Brent Wainscott01/13/19

After Kentucky’s victory over Vanderbilt on Saturday, the latest KenPom rankings have the Cats sitting as the 14th strongest team in the nation.

KenPom rankings are determined by the adjusted efficiency margin (AdjEM), which is simply the team’s adjusted offensive efficiency minus its adjusted defensive efficiency. The adjustments are largely based on scheduling, opponent quality, and game location.

The Adjusted efficiency numbers rank North Carolina at number 10 and Louisville at 27. Those two teams are undoubtedly Kentucky’s best two victories this season, both of which were away from Rupp Arena.

Where do Kentucky’s three losses rank? Well, Duke obviously reigns supreme at one, while Seton Hall ranks 47th, and Alabama sits at 65.

Kentucky has three remaining opponents sitting in front of them with Tennesee at five, Kansas at nine, and Auburn ranks 11th.
