The start of the upcoming softball season is still over a month away, but we now know who Kentucky will match up against this fall.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Kentucky softball program unveiled its 2022 fall schedule, which consists of six games across a roughly six-week stretch. The Wildcats will play three games in Lexington at John Cropp Stadium and spend the other three on the road. The fall slate of contests will conclude right before Halloween on Oct. 29 against in-state rival Louisville in the annual Big Blue Boo game.

First pitch times have been not been announced at this time and will be released closer to the beginning of the season. All fall season games will be free admission.

Kentucky will get the ball rolling for the fall schedule on Sept. 18 in Richmond against Eastern Kentucky. UK will then face two more in-state foes in Georgetown College on Sept. 23 and Campbellsville on Sept. 29. The ‘Cats will then hit the road again for a matchup against Dayton on Oct. 1 before participating in a home-and-home against the Louisville Cardinals on Oct. 9 (road) and Oct. 29 (home).

With the return of All-American Kayla Kowalik for a fifth season along with fellow All-American Erin Coffel, who is now a junior, Kentucky figures to mix in with the best programs in the Southeastern Conference once again. Led by longtime head coach Rachel Lawson, last season’s squad finished 37-19 overall and 13-11 in the SEC before the ‘Cats were ultimately knocked out of the postseason by Virginia Tech.

Check out the entire fall schedule below. The full-length spring season is expected to begin around February.
