On Saturday, Kentucky beat Tennessee in basketball again. The Wildcats are now 158-75 all-time against the Volunteers.

No other program in college basketball has beaten Kentucky more, but Tennessee basketball has needed a lot of swings at the plate to collect the victories.

At Rupp Arena, the 107-79 victory was just one of many blowouts in the series for Kentucky.

The 28-point margin of victory wasn’t even the largest of the John Calipari era. Back in 2010, No. 2 Kentucky met up with No. 15 Tennessee in Nashville at the SEC Tournament just two weeks after the Vols knocked off Kentucky on Rocky Top.

Kentucky then issued a statement.

Behind a second half blitz, Kentucky hammered Tennessee by 29 points in the 74-45 win. That wouldn’t be the last time a Calipari team at Kentucky put a whipping on the team in orange.

In 2012, Tennessee walked into Rupp Arena and faced a Kentucky team wearing alternate gray uniforms for the first time. Those uniforms sent a statement as Anthony Davis and the Wildcats blitzed Tennessee in a 69-44 win to improve to 22-1 on the season.

Rick Barnes arrived at Tennessee in 2015 and the former Texas head coach has had a lot of success in Knoxville. The Vols won an SEC title in 2018 and have been to three NCAA Tournaments in his tenure. His seventh team at Tennessee will make it four this March.

Head-to-head, Barnes has made Tennessee a thorn in Kentucky’s side. The Vols have beaten the Wildcats more than a handful of times since his arrival and own a winning record (8-7) during that time. Yet, Kentucky has still been able to flex its muscles on the Big Orange.

To avenge a loss in 2017, Kentucky hammered UT by 25 at Rupp Arena. With a No. 1 ranking in 2019, the Vols rolled into Lexington and were hammered by 17 points in a game that was never in doubt. With John Calipari’s worst team, UK went into Thompson-Boling Arena last season and knocked off the Vols by 15 to give the Wildcats consecutive victories in Knoxville.

The rivalry is just about as balanced as it’s ever been, but UK remains the big dog. The Wildcats continue to produce blowout victories over the Big Orange.
