Kentucky tight end Nik Ognenovic enters the transfer portal
Another Kentucky Wildcat is looking for a new college football home.
Al.com’s Matt Zenitz reports Kentucky’s Nik Ognenovic has entered the transfer portal. The tight end from Ft. Lauderdale played in two games in 2019 as a redshirt freshman, catching his first career pass for eight yards against UT-Martin. He played in seven games in 2020.
Recruited by Eddie Gran, Ognenovic was Cardinal Gibbons High School teammates with quarterback Nik Scalzo, another player who has been in and out of the portal. A three-star prospect in the class of 2019, Rivals ranked Ognenovic as the No. 29 tight end in America. If he does in fact depart, he will be the seventh member of the 2019 recruiting class that’s left UK’s program within two years.
Elsewhere in the tight end room, starter Justin Rigg announced he will use the extra year of eligibility to return for the 2021 season to play alongside Keaton Upshaw and Brenden Bates. UK also signed Jordan Dingle, the third-ranked player from the state of Kentucky in the 2021 class.
