[/caption] The hype is real out of Lexington. After coming in ranked as the preseason No. 11 by the Associated Press, the Kentucky Wildcats Women's Basketball Team is ranked as the No. 12 preseason squad in the country, according to USA Today. https://twitter.com/usatodaysports/status/1329509247072292865 Led by reigning SEC Player of the Year Rhyne Howard, who will enter the 2020-21 season as the overwhelming favorite to repeat and a favorite to win National Player of the Year, the 'Cats will roll out one of its most talented rosters in program history. Interim head coach Kyra Elzy is at the helm now following the unexpected retirement of Matthew Mitchell, but the transition process should be seamless. Here's what Edith Noriega had to say about Kentucky in her breakdown of the USA Today rankings:
12. Kentucky: Rhyne Howard is arguably the best shooter in the SEC, averaging 23.4 points per game. Kentucky adds a top-14-rated recruiting class headlined by five-star guard Treasure Hunt.
As expected, South Carolina was the consensus preseason No. 1 while fellow SEC teams Mississippi State (No. 7), Texas A&M (No. 13), and Arkansas (No. 14) join the 'Cats in the top-15. Kentucky's season tips off on Nov. 25 against Murray State.
