Kentucky Weekend Recruiting Rundown: 8/21-8/23

Austin Rivers, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Florida, may no longer be interested in Kentucky, according to some reports. While some reports have the number one shooting guard in the class of 2011 down to four schools, there has not been any confirmation. Originally, Rivers was down to five schools in North Carolina, Duke, Florida, Kansas and Kentucky. Now it appears as if the Wildcats may be out of the race. While Rivers claims to be wide open, most believe that Duke is the favorite to land him. Austin was originally committed to Florida and could easily make a return back to Gainesville in the near future. DeAndre Daniels, a 6-foot-8 small forward from California, took two unofficial visits this weekend. On Saturday, Daniels visited USC, followed by a Sunday visit to UCLA. Some reports have UNLV and Washington involved while others have Kentucky and Texas involved. Daniels was originally committed to Texas until last week when he decided to decommit from the school. A decision is expected to be made sometime in the next week. Tony Wroten, a 6-foot-4 point guard from Washington, continues to tweet out tips about his recruitment. The latest one came when Wroten announced another new list. The schools included Louisville, Washington, Kentucky, UConn, Villanova and Miami, in that order. While he was not to specific about any favorites, leaders or upcoming visits, Tony still insists that he has an offer from the Wildcats staff. Nothing has been confirmed on that matter. Amir Williams, a 6-foot-10 power forward from Michigan, is taking his recruitment extremely slow but he decided to take a visit for the first time in a while. Williams took an unofficial visit to DePaul earlier in the week. While he still has a list of over twenty schools that he is looking out, Amir will eventually narrow things down. Amir reportedly has an offer from Kentucky and now that Johnny O'Bryant is no longer interested in the Cats, Williams could become a main priority in the coming months. Michael Chandler, a 6-foot-10 center from Indiana, has been in and out of the mix with Kentucky. While most sites believe that Chandler has an offer from Kentucky, some believe they are not even involved with the big man. With schools like Georgetown, Purdue, Indiana, Illinois and many others, including the Wildcats, Kentucky has a good shot at landing Michael. Michael was originally committed to Louisville.
