Kentucky Weekend Recruiting Rundown: 9/28-10/1

Michael Chandler, a 6-foot-10 power forward from Indiana, has indicated via his Twitter that he will be attending Kentucky Midnight Madness in October. While this comes as a surprise to some, it looks like Chandler or Trevor Lacey (featured below) will be the last player to sign with Kentucky for the class of 2011. It appears that Michael has an offer from the Wildcats but nothing is set in stone. Providence is another school in the running for Chandler, a former Louisville commit. Ricardo Ledo, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Rhode Island, is being targeted by Kentucky. UK Assistant Orlando Antigua came to watch Ledo and his South Kent (CT) teammates workout. Although it is not official whether or not Kentucky has offered the big time scorer, the junior has indicated before that he would love to play in the Big East. While this doesn't fair well for Kentucky, Ledo is looking at going to a big time program. Trevor Lacey, a 6-foot-2 shooting guard from Alabama, has been more vocal about his interest in Kentucky. Lacey looks to be the final addition to the 2011 Kentucky recruiting class. The only question is, when will he commit? Trevor had indicated that he will now wait until the spring to sign with a school and see what happens from there. While the shooter remains very high on the Wildcats' recruiting class, he is still looking at schools like Auburn and Alabama. If the scholarships are available and nothing dramatic happens, look for Trevor Lacey to be the final piece of the Kentucky recruiting class of 2011. Perry Ellis, a 6-foot-8 forward from Kansas, has seen a lot of coaches at workouts. While Ellis has not been practicing for a week, coaches are still coming. One school who has been absent is Kentucky. They indicated to Ellis' mother, Fonda, that they want to see Perry play rather than just sit. Some coaches, such as Memphis' Josh Pastner and Kansas State's Frank Martin, have been coming to watch Ellis, whether he sit or play. As of now, it looks like Kentucky is on the outside of the equation but that could change soon. Perry will visit Kentucky unofficially in November for their first home game. Julius Randle, a 6-foot-8 forward from Texas & Rodney Purvis, a 6-foot-2 guard from North Carolina, are seeing a lot more interest from Kentucky. Assistant coach Orlando Antigua has been doing the majority of the recruiting for the 2013 stars. It is not clear whether either of them have an offer yet. They will soon! Tony Wroten, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Washington, is no longer considering Kentucky. As Wroten took an official visit to Louisville last weekend, his recruitment seems to be down to the Cardinals and Washington. Originally, the Wildcats were Wroten's favorite but it appears that they backed out over the last few months. Austin Rivers, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Florida, has committed to Duke. Kentucky was part of Rivers' top five until he cut them out last month. Khem Birch, a 6-foot-9 forward from Canada, has committed to Pittsburgh. Birch, who did not have an offer from Kentucky, was bound to get one in the coming months. He is a top five player in the class of 2012. Follow Alex Kline on Twitter
