Kentucky Weekend Recruiting Rundown: 9/4-9/6

by:Alex Kline09/06/10
Perry Ellis, a 6-foot-8 forward from Kansas, has set up five unofficial visits for the fall. Originally, Ellis had two, but his mother, Fonda, set up a few more.  On September 7th, he will visit Kansas. September 11th, Perry trips to Oklahoma, where he will attend the football game. A few weeks later on September 25th, Ellis will also watch a football game at Kansas State. When October 15th rolls around, Perry is heading to Memphis for Memphis Madness. Lastly and most importantly, on November 12th, Perry will visit Kentucky. He will attend the first basketball game of the year against Eastern Tennessee State. Ellis has offers from all of these schools, along with Iowa, Wake Forest, Wichita State and Texas A&M. Perry is a rising junior and won the Gatorade State Player of the Year last winter in the state of Kansas. Daniel Ochefu, a 6-foot-10 power forward from Pennsylvania, took two unofficial visits this weekend. On Saturday, he went to Georgetown, followed by a trip to Virginia. While Kentucky has not offered the 2012 big man just yet, they are very interested. During the summer, the staff came to a fair amount of games and expressed interest in him. He has not visited the school yet but considers it as a potential dream school. Trevor Lacey, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Alabama, is still taking his recruiting process slowly. While Kentucky could be his potential landing spot, Memphis and Auburn are two other schools that are in very good contention for the Each 1 Teach 1 star. While the Cats are in the running for a shooting guard, many consider Lacey as a better option than Tony Wroten. Tony Wroten, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Washington, made some interesting comments on Twitter this weekend. For starters, Wroten claims that he will be at Louisville on September 22nd. He did not specify if it would be an unofficial or official visit. Tony went on to pick the Cardinals to beat Kentucky in the big football game. That didn't work in his favor. While Miami (FL) is on his list, they are his favorite college football team. While this may be irrelevant to some, it is interesting to see the thoughts going through the 2011 guard's mind. Deuce Bello, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard from North Carolina & Chane Behanan, a 6-foot-6 forward from Kentucky, still remain interested in Kentucky. While it is unlikely that they come to Lexington, they are still considering the school. Most likely, one of the two, and possibly both, will end up at Louisville. Bello and Behanantook official visits to Louisville this weekend to check out the football game against Kentucky. Quincy Miller, who is no longer considering Kentucky, and Josiah Turner were also visiting. Brandon Ashley, a 6-foot-8 forward from California, still remains wide open. With an offer from Kentucky, the 2012 prospect has a long list. Ashley fields offers from UK, along with Arizona, California, UCLA, Texas, Kansas, Stanford, Washington and more.
