Mitch Barnhart has not been a balling on a budget.  UK pays John Calipari and Mark Stoops more than any other SEC school pays their football and basketball coaches, according to Saturday Down South.

Last year UK spent $10.5 million combined on the salaries of Stoops and Calipari, just ahead of the $9.89 million Alabama spent on Nick Saban and Avery Johnson.  Saban made $7.09 million, a hair over Calipari’s $7 million.  To compare Mark Stoops’ $3.5 million to the rest of the SEC, the only two coaches that will make less money next year are first-year coaches — Barry Odom at Missouri and Will Muschamp at South Carolina.

After Alabama and UK, it’s a big drop-off with seven schools paying around $6 million to the coaches of their two biggest athletic programs.  To see the full list (excluding the private school, Vanderbilt) click here.
