Kentucky's Fringe Sport Friday! Kentucky vs Louisville Edition

by:Will Lentz01/14/11

We here at Kentucky Sports Radio like to bring you news about Kentucky Sports – obviously – but our coverage tends to solely revolve around Basketball and Football.  Understandably so, as those are the two sports that most fans are most interested in.  However, the university has a number of other fairly successful teams that deserve some time and coverage as well. While we won’t be able to cover the fringe sports with as much vigor or accuracy as we do the big two, I am going to be bringing you updates on various teams once a week.

If you are a member (or friend of a member) of a Kentucky sports team that isn’t basketball or football and you want to see coverage on KSR, email me at [email protected] and we will do our best to get you some exposure.

As far as today’s post goes: the Kentucky hockey team will be taking on the Louisville dirty birds tonight at the Lexington ice center starting at Midnight.  I will warn you, attending these games tends to not be a family environment – but if you’re the type that is out on a Friday night and going strong at midnight, it should be a fun experience.  The Hockey team is 13-8-1 right now, with one win over Louisville happening early in the year (17-2!)  Plus, any excuse to watch the Cats beat up on the Cards is a good one, and if you’ve never experienced a UK Hockey game before this would be a good one.

Expect the Ice Center to be packed, loud, and inappropriately awesome.
