Kentucky's PG of the Future?

by:Matt Jones02/04/08
fadfasfsd In the topsy-turvy world of UK basketball recruiting, names come and names go. For every new Joey Harrelson, there is an old Ken Bowman to go on the pile of names from the past that seem vaguely familiar and are destined for the recesses of your brain. However this year one name continues to stick, even while the others are moving on and off the UK radar. JUCO PG Tyrone Appleton has become the hot ticket for a number of top programs around the country, including the Cats. Appleton has visited Kansas and Iowa State on official visits and has been to Kentucky for an unofficial. However the staff is not ready to simply rest on its unofficial laurels and Appleton has agreed to come to campus for an official visit...tentatively scheduled for the Arkansas game. A couple of weeks ago, it looked like Appelton was headed for Kansas, but now he has decided to make another trip to Lexington and will be headed to either Austin or Bloomington for his last visit. Appleton seems open to considering more choices rather than just that of the Jayhawks and that can only be good news for Cat fans. IT has been hard to follow UK recruiting under the new staff because they make their moves swiftly and discretely. By the time you know they are recruting a player, he has already committed or is going elsewhere. But Appleton is different. The coaching staff wants him in Lexington and his stock has risen expoentially. If he arrives on campus, UK is in a great position.....meaning that the Arkansas game could have more lasting impact than just a chance to see John Pelphrey's hair live and in the flesh.
