Kevin Knox set to make NBA debut

Bam Adebayo and Derek Willis’s teams are tipping off on NBA TV right now, but the Cats’ highest draft pick this season, Kevin Knox, will make his Knicks debut at 5:30 ET on ESPN. He’ll team up with Arizona’s Allonzo Trier, sort of but not really Western Kentucky’s Mitchell Robinson, and Juwan Howard, Jr., which is notable just because of how old it makes me feel. They'll take on Trae Young and the Hawks.
I’m looking forward to the Knox era in NYC, and think his game translates perfectly to today’s NBA. His quickness will improve - and along with it his defense - and he’s a better athlete than he's given credit for. His versatility on offense means he can impact the game from anywhere, and it also means he can be used in some interesting ways for the Knicks.
In fact, Knicks coach David Fizdale recently said he was considering using a Monstars-style lineup that features Knox at shooting guard, 7’3” Kristaps Porzingis at the three, and a frontcourt made up of Robinson and Vandy’s Luke Kornet, who both are listed at 7’1”. I’m all for this, just for the spectacle if nothing else. And I don’t know if he’s even any good in the NBA, but if Ron Baker isn’t the point guard of that lineup, they’re missing out on a golden comedic opportunity.
It’ll be interesting to see how Knox settles into the Knicks rotation and his NBA career, and it’s just about time for him to get started, so tune in.
