We now know when the Wildcats will kick off the penultimate game of the 2021 football season at Kroger Field. The SEC announced that on Nov. 6 Kentucky will kickoff against Tennessee at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN2.

After a week off, the Wildcats enter the home stretch of the season with a road trip to Starkville to take on Mississippi State. Kentucky opened as 2-point underdogs, but that line has moved quite a bit to make UK a one-point favorite.

Tennessee will enjoy a bye week before traveling up I-75 to Lexington. The Vols followed up their mustard bomb against Ole Miss with a kinda sorta close game for 2.5 quarters at Alabama, before the Crimson Tide finished with a 50 Burger and a 28-point win.

The game between the Cats and the Vols is sold out. The BBN bought up all of the tickets at Kroger Field almost a month before kickoff. Mark Stoops’ Wildcats will be playing in front of a sell-out crowd for the third straight home game.

Kentucky’s Recent History vs. Tennessee

This year marks the tenth anniversary of Matt Roark’s heroic streak-snapping performance against Tennessee. It did not completely turn the tide on the series, but Stoops’ troops have frequently rebuffed the Vols in recent years.

Stephen Johnson’s leap into the end zone secured Stoops’ first win over Tennessee, a 29-26 2017 victory at Kroger Field. In the most recent meeting in Lexington, quarterback Lynn Bowden was just a few yards away from the go-ahead score when he was stooped just short of the goal. The Wildcats completely put it on the Vols last year at Neyland Stadium, recording a pair of pick sixes to lift UK to a 34-7 win in John Schlarman’s final game on the sideline.
