Kiyaunta Goodwin was the highest-ranked recruit in Kentucky’s 2022 signing class and the Louisville native joined the Kentucky football program with high expectations. After choosing the Cats over Michigan State in a heated recruitment, many thought that the young blue-chipper could contribute right away on the Big Blue Wall.

Despite the many struggles that Kentucky has had on the line, Kiyaunta Goodwin has yet to make a push for playing time. However, offensive line coach Zach Yenser still has a plan for the true freshman. Goodwin has already burned through his redshirt playing on the field goal team this year but there seems to be a chance that the rookie cracks the rotation at some point this season.

After practice on Tuesday, Goodwin along with fellow freshmen Nikolas Hall and Paul Rodriguez were seen getting extra work in after practice. The development is continuing for the former top-100 recruit

“Kiyaunta’s right there,” Yenser said about the young offensive tackle. “The big thing he has to work on is just getting off on the snap count. We talked about that in the spring and just playing fast. When he knows what to do he has a chance. I think he’s going to be able to help us.”

As of right now, Kenneth Horsey is still holding down a spot at left tackle after being kicked out from guard and Deondre Buford is in at right tackle for Jeremy Flax. Kentucky is not ready to throw Kiyaunta Goodwin in the fire yet but that could at some point down the line.

The Cats are still working all options to fix the seismic point of attack issues this offense has had to this point in the season. Improvement in the last six games will be vital for this group. Maybe Kiyaunta Goodwin can help solve some issues in the near future.
