We’re back! This season’s first Kroger’s KSR Game of the Week will feature the Scott County Cardinals against the Franklin County Flyers in the Battle of Elkhorn Creek Presented by Bluegrass Orthopedics.

Scott County is coming off a 7-1 campaign in 2020. The Cardinals are led by longtime head coach Jim McKee and an experienced team that features multiple super-seniors. The Scott County defense returns KSR All-State defensive back Campton Martin whose six interceptions led 5A in 2020. The Cards’ offense averaged 42.6 points a year ago while allowing just 15.9.

Franklin County lost a heartbreaker in overtime to Boyle County in the 4A state championship game last season. The Flyers are poised for another run to Kroger Field and are led by running back Kaden Moorman. Coach Eddie James’ offense averaged 38.8 points per game a year ago and allowed 12.5. It has to replace a couple stars in quarterback Nick Broyles and receiver Fred Farrier.

KSR was at the Battle of Elkhorn Creek press conference in Lexington on Saturday. You can watch players and coaches from that event here.

See y’all in Georgetown.
