KSR SOURCES: Kentucky extends counteroffer to Vince Marrow

The ball is now in Vince Marrow’s court.

According to KSR sources, the Kentucky football program has extended a counteroffer to UK associate head coach and recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow that is “essentially equivalent” to the offer Michigan State has prepared.

“Sources tell KSR that UK has returned with a counteroffer to Vince Marrow that is essentially equivalent to the Michigan St. offer,” KSR’s Matt Jones wrote on Twitter. “Now it’s just about what he wants to do.”

Last night, KSR broke the news that UK head coach Mark Stoops returned from a trip one day early to meet with Marrow in an attempt to convince him to stay at Kentucky.

We then reported on Wednesday afternoon that Michigan State is offering Marrow enough money to make him “one of the two highest-paid non-offensive/defensive coordinator assistants in America,” with Justin Rowland of Rivals.com adding that the Spartans could afford to give their new associate head coach – Marrow’s potential position – upwards of $1,000,000 annually and that a decision was expected in the next 48 hours.

With a counteroffer in place, the waiting game begins now.
