KSR Today: Bahamas Week begins, Fall Camp continues
Good morning, friends, and welcome to a new week; this one is more exciting than most because it includes Kentucky Basketball. Today, the Cats depart for the Bahamas, where they’ll embark on a four-game exhibition tour. When you add football fall camp updates to the mix and the fact that we’re now 26 days away from the season-opener, it’s a mighty fine time to be a Wildcat.
Here’s everything you need to know to get you going this morning. Let’s make it a good one.
Kentucky Basketball leaves for the Bahamas
The games don’t start until Wednesday, but the Kentucky Wildcats are leaving today to get settled into their new digs at the Baha Mar resort in Nassau, Bahamas. Kentucky will play two national teams (Dominican Republic U22 and Bahamas) along with a highly-regarded Canadian college team (Carleton University) and a professional team from Mexico (Monterey Tech).
Here’s the schedule. All games will air live on the SEC Network.
- Wednesday, August 10: 7:00 p.m. ET vs. Dominican Republic U22 National Team
- Thursday, August 11: 7:00 p.m. ET vs. Monterey Tech (Mexico)
- Saturday, August 13: 6:00 p.m. ET vs. Carleton University (Canada)
- Sunday, August 14: 12:00 p.m. ET vs. Bahamas National Team
Yesterday, Baha Mar Hoops, the organizer of the event, shared a photo of the court being installed. It’s not done yet — there’s still no three-point line — but it’s a cool look at where the fun will go down later this week.
Last night, I shared the six things I’ll be looking for from the Cats this week. KSR will have boots on the ground — err, sandals in the sand — as Jack Pilgrim and Dr. Michael Huang capture the scene for us. The last two Bahamas trips, 2014 and 2018, were the precursors to special seasons AND provided plenty of entertainment for fans. We’ll be leaning on Jack and Dr. Mike to share the behind-the-scenes scoop from paradise as the 2022-23 Cats get their feet wet.
Until then, the highlights from Tuesday’s open practice should hold us over.

From here, we’ll settle into the normal fall camp schedule, with media opportunities after practice on Tuesday (Rich Scangarello, offensive players), Thursday (Brad White, defensive players), and Saturday (Stoops, players). Football Time In The Bluegrass really is almost here.
If you missed it, we got a Yahtzee
The tradition of weekend Yahtzees continued as top 250 prospect Jaremiah Anglin committed to Kentucky Saturday night. The 6-foot, 180-pound defensive back from Lake Wales, Florida picked the Cats over his home state Florida State Seminoles, a very sweet moment. He is ranked No. 230 overall in the On300. He’s also tabbed as one of the best 50 players from the state of Florida in the 2023 recruiting class. Anglin is the 15th member of Kentucky’s 2023 recruiting class.
Lance Ware’s new shoes are #606Strong
The Kentucky Basketball team has already raised over $3 million for flood relief. Last night, Lance Ware showed that Eastern Kentucky remains in his heart when he shared a video of his new sneakers via True Blue Customs. They have the outline of Kentucky on one side with “One State” and “606 Strong” on the other.
There are several ways to give back to the victims of the floods. KSR and the Kentucky Chamber have formed the KSR Eastern Kentucky Flood Relief Fund to help our fellow Kentuckians rebuild. Donations to the Red Cross flood relief fund that the basketball and football teams promoted are still being accepted as well.
