Good morning, friends. Remember those technical difficulties Nick Roush alluded to yesterday? Well, they hit the KSR South compound yesterday in the form of me knocking almost an entire glass of water on my laptop. I’ll find out tomorrow whether it’s toast. For now, it’s draped over my dining room table with a box fan behind it. My old machine is pinch-hitting until the verdict comes in. She’s not as fast or pretty as her newer counterpart, but she gets the job done.

Enough about me. Let’s get you ready for LSU.

Josh Ali joined Marquan McCall on the injury report

We knew nose guard Marquan McCall would be out for some time after suffering a left ankle injury vs. Florida. Turns out wide receiver Josh Ali will miss time as well. Last night, Matt Jones reported McCall will be out at least five to six weeks, while Ali will likely miss the next two games, returning after the bye week for the Mississippi State game on Oct. 30. The timing is obviously not ideal, but as Mark Stoops would say, next man up.

Mark Stoops on the SEC Teleconference

After the win over Florida, Stoops is a popular guy and will take his turn on the SEC Teleconference shortly after lunch. Check the site in the early afternoon for a recap. Last night, Liam Coen, Kavosiey Smoke, Dare Rosenthal, and Darian Kinnard met with reporters following practice. We’ll have more quotes rolling out this morning, but each of them insisted Kentucky’s offense still has room to grow.

“It’s clicked at times,” Coen said of the offense. “We’ve shown flashes in multiple different games, different situations, whether it be red zone or third down. We’ve been very good and we also haven’t been very good. When it does click, it’s going to be special. Just stay the course. It’s going to click.”

Fingers crossed. We’ll hear from Brad White and the defense tonight.

A big name to keep an eye on in transfer portal

With this season almost halfway over, Kentucky is already trying to reload for 2022. Yesterday, the Cats offered Taj Harris, a standout wide receiver from Syracuse. In three and a quarter seasons, Harris has over 150 catches for over 2,000 yards. He’s a deep threat like Wan’Dale Robinson and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Harris entered the transfer portal on Monday and has offers from Mississippi State, Western Kentucky, Utah, Kentucky, and Texas A&M so far. Considering Kentucky Branded handles his merchandise, I think the Cats are in a good position.

Sunday dinner with Will Levis and the Big Blue Wall

What is NIL good for if not treating your offensive line? On Monday, Will Levis tweeted a pic of his weekly dinner with his offensive line at Malone’s, part of a sponsorship deal with Bluegrass Hospitality Group. The picture itself was great, but Levis shared a better look at all that food on TikTok:

@w.lev

Gotta treat the big boys up front!! Thank you Bluegrass Hospitality Group Restaurants and Malone’s Lansdowne for your amazing service. These guys deserve it all and more.

Football reigns supreme right now, but basketball is nearly here. Pro Day takes place Sunday night, followed by Big Blue Madness on October 15. We’ll get our first real glimpse of the Cats in action on October 22 at the Blue-White Game. Based on everything we’ve seen, this year’s team is well ahead of schedule.

No. 5 Volleyball vs. Mississippi State on ESPNU

If you’re looking to get out of the house tonight, the No. 5 Kentucky Volleyball team is playing Mississippi State at 6 p.m. ET at Memorial Coliseum. The Cats are 9-3 this season, 2-0 in SEC play. The Bulldogs are 12-4, 3-1 in the SEC, with one of those conference wins coming vs. Florida. If you can’t make it to Memorial, the game will be televised live on ESPNU, ESPN3, and the ESPN app with Sam Gore and Jennifer Fowler on the call.

No. 8 Men’s Soccer hosts Lipscomb

Tonight, the No. 8 Kentucky Men’s Soccer Team hosts Lipscomb at 7 p.m. ET at Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex. The Cats boast a 7-0-2 record, earning their first Conference USA win last Sunday over UAB. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Dave “Buzz” Baker on the call.

Winter Is Coming (in 2022)

Miss Game of Thrones? Me too. Luckily, winter is not too far off. HBO shared this teaser for House of the Dragon yesterday. Matt Smith, who plays Prince Philip on Netflix’s The Crown, looks perfect as a Targaryen.

That’ll do it. Radio in an hour…
