KSR Today: Moving on from a tough loss to Ole Miss

Good morning, folks. It’s been a tough 24 hours for all of us. No. 7 Kentucky lost a heartbreaker on the road to No. 14 Ole Miss on Saturday, ending the Wildcats’ perfect record along the way. UK now moves to 0-11 against SEC West opponents on the road under head coach Mark Stoops. Kentucky had several chances to win the game and played well enough to pull it out, but poorly timed mistakes down the stretch doomed the ‘Cats.

Chris Rodriguez Jr. was steady in his season debut (72 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries) while Will Levis tossed for 220 yards on 18-24 passing for two touchdowns and zero interceptions. True freshman Barion Brown was viable to explode for a 40-plus yard run any moment he touched the ball. For the first time this season, the Ole Miss rushing offense was held under 200 yards and finished with under 400 total offensive yards. And yet, an illegal formation penalty and a missed block on the offensive line will be what we remember the most from Kentucky’s performance.

Kentucky is still 4-1 on the season with a 1-1 mark in SEC play, so the season is hardly over, but there’s no denying the sting of Saturday’s loss. A win would have propelled UK into a stratosphere that no fan has experienced since 1977. The Wildcats’ next two home matchups against South Carolina and Mississippi State just became that much more important.

KSR’s Rapid Reaction

Big Blue Madness Campout is complete

At 5:00 a.m. EST on Saturday morning, the basketball bennies of the Big Blue Nation officially returned the Big Blue Madness campout tradition. While this year’s crowd wasn’t as deep and rowdy as it was during the pre-COVID years, Tent City was still out in full force as the die-hard fans camped out for tickets to a Kentucky men’s basketball practice.

The women’s basketball team went around handing out free chicken biscuits, too. The men’s team did the same with some pizza.

Tickets officially became available online through Ticketmaster starting at 9:00 a.m. EST, so go ahead and get yours.

You people are — wait for it– crazy!
