Big Blue Madness is here

The tip-off to Kentucky basketball has arrived, as the program will host its annual Big Blue Madness event at Rupp Arena on Friday.

Sold out in less than an hour, the event will feature introductions to the 2021-22 men’s and women’s basketball rosters to go with drills, competitions, scrimmages and more. In a packed house for the first time since the 2019-20 season, it’s the first chance to see the upcoming Wildcats in an official capacity, followed by the Blue-White Scrimmage and back-to-back exhibition games before the season-opener against Duke at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 9.

This year’s event will also feature the Don Franklin Auto Blue Carpet into Big Blue Madness, an opportunity for fans to see the UK men’s and women’s basketball teams and featured guests arrive from 5:30-7 p.m. This year’s blue carpet will take place on the east side of the Central Bank Center off Main Street.

As for event protocols, all guests, staff and vendors will be required to wear a mask while visiting Rupp Arena. Fans will not be required to show proof of vaccination to enter, but face coverings – covering the nose and mouth – are required for all fans as they watch the game from their assigned seat and enter, exit and move around Rupp Arena.

For fans unable to make it to Rupp Arena for Big Blue Madness, the popular event can be seen live on SEC Network. It will mark the seventh straight season the annual spectacle will air live and in its entirety on a national network starting at 7 p.m. ET.

Skyy Clark arrives in Lexington (among others)

Kentucky basketball commit Skyy Clark was the first player to arrive in Lexington for his official visit this weekend, with the five-star guard’s father telling KSR they made it to town late Thursday evening.

The standout prospect and his family were welcomed by John Calipari at the airport upon arrival.

“Pretty cool moment, Coach Cal picked us up from the airport. Meant a lot,” Kenny Clark told KSR. “He was waiting at baggage claim. Pretty awesome.”

Clark joins the likes of 2023 standouts Reed Sheppard, Dajuan Wagner Jr., Mackenzie Mgbako and Cyr Malonga in Lexington this weekend. Wagner and Mgbako are in town for official visits, while Sheppard and Malonga are taking unofficials.

Big Blue Madness will be busy. Get excited, BBN.
