wir-5-27 It was another wild and news-filled week around Big Blue Nation and KentuckySportsRadio.com. If you were too busy doing other unimportant things to keep, I've got your full weekly rundown here to take you into the weekend.

*****

MONDAY

-- The work week began with a Joker Phillips sighting in Lexington at Wesley Woodyard's 16 Ways Foundation charity golf scramble. I played in the scramble and was amazed by the turnout of UK football personalities that came out to support Woodyard's event. Some of the other notable attendees include Guy Morriss, Tim Couch, Danny Trevathan, Avery Williams, Mitch Barnhart, Steve Brown, members of the Tennessee Titans, Mark Stoops and several UK assistants. -- In basketball news, we learned Kentucky will host Valparaiso in a non-conference basketball game this coming season. It will be Cats' second ever meeting with the Crusaders; the first being a first-round game of the 2002 NCAA Tournament. Kentucky won that one, 83-68. -- Shortly after the Valparaiso news, CBSSports.com's Jon Rothstein reported Kentucky will host Kansas in the Big 12/SEC Challenge. There's your marquee home game, season ticket holders. -- A curmudgeonly old UK fan wrote the Herald-Leader to call John Calipari self-absorbed. “This isn’t my father’s Kentucky,” the fan wrote. “It’s just a new ballgame. … I think the millennials, this is their Kentucky. But it’s not mine.” (Of course, Jerry Tipton published it.) -- Commonwealth Stadium the 13th toughest place to play in the SEC? Tough to argue against that. Vanderbilt was a distant 14th. Very tough to argue against that. -- I gave you 16 things to do this Memorial Day weekend.

TUESDAY

-- Tuesday morning began with confirmation from UK that the Wildcats will host Kansas. It will be played Saturday, January 28. -- We took a look at the 2016-17 basketball schedule as we know it. 11 of the non-conference opponents and nine of the dates for those games are confirmed. -- ESPN's Jeff Borzello called Kentucky the biggest underachiever in college basketball. I'm not sure I've ever read a dumber statement with an even dumber argument to back it up. He felt the wrath of BBN for making such a dumb statement, too -- as he should have. -- Matthew Mitchell added a Hall of Fame coach to his staff. Welcome to Lexington, Lin Dunn. -- Kentucky football lost its star incoming transfer to JUCO. The former Michigan Wolverine will still consider the Cats after his time at East Mississippi Community College. -- Mrs. Tyler came up with eight ideas for Kentucky's next 30 for 30.

WEDNESDAY

-- NBA decision day: ISAIAH BRISCOE IS COMING BACK! -- But Marcus Lee shocked us all and announced he will return to school, but not in Lexington. Lee plans to transfer out west for his senior season of basketball. He will have to sit out next year, wherever he goes. -- Like everyone else, Tyler tried to make sense of Lee's decision. It still doesn't make sense. -- With next year's roster complete, the six incoming freshmen announced their jersey numbers. Bam Adebayo settled for No. 3 with Briscoe returning to take No. 13. -- A website reported five potential suitors for Lee, though only one of the five is out west, where Lee plans to go. -- Over at Commonwealth, the Stoops Troops Snapchat account gave fans a sneak peek at UK's new practice facility. Progress is looking good and it's on schedule to be ready in time for fall camp. -- After being named the most hated player in the NFL, Jacob Tamme read his mean tweets. -- And Mac Jones earned a spot in the Rivals Five-Star Challenge next month.

THURSDAY

-- 100 days 'til football season... -- We had some fun by asking you which of Kentucky's seven head basketball coaches would win in a fight; win at Jeopardy; sing the best; be able to fix a car; and handle his bourbon. Your feedback was great. -- Anthony Davis lost a whole lot of money by failing to be named All-NBA. DeMarcus Cousins earned second team honors. -- Mrs. Tyler asked, "How will Marcus Lee be remembered?"

FRIDAY

-- Jeff Goodman identified California as the front-runner to land Marcus Lee. Cal was one of the three finalists in Lee's recruitment when he picked Kentucky back in 2012, so it should come as no surprise that it's in the mix again. -- Karl-Anthony Towns went on SportsCenter and thanked Calipari for getting him ready for the NBA. He told Hannah Storm, "Thanks to the University of Kentucky, I had the mental capacity and also the physical strength to continue to really play at a high level.” -- More from Towns: Is he joining Uncle Drew's street ball team? -- Matt's guest host schedule is taking shape. He has lots of good people booked to host during his two-week vacation. -- Freddie Maggard took a look at the quarterbacks around the SEC. Tennessee's Josh Dobbs should scare Kentucky fans the most.   Enjoy your holiday weekend!
