It was ugly and less ugly for the Wildcats at the KFC Yum! Center, Kentucky taking one on the chin in an eight-point loss where Louisville led essentially wire to wire — 37:42 of the 40:00, to be exact. What went wrong for Mark Pope’s squad, headlined by poor performances for Otega Oweh and Jaland Lowe? How did they nearly pull off the miraculous 20-point comeback in the second half, just a missed free throw here and a bad shot there away from making things really interesting in the final segment?

Denzel Aberdeen and Collin Chandler deserve their props for hitting big shots and fighting, despite others’ shortcomings and miscues. And, unfortunately, the same should be said for Mikel Brown Jr. and Ryan Conwell, who combined for 53 points in the win for the Cards.
