To fully prepare for the 2012-13 basketball season, KSR conducted one-on-one interviews with each member of the Kentucky basketball team about their expectations for the team and what they would like to achieve individually. We'll release two interviews per day throughout the week. Up now: Archie Goodwin. ********
Archie Goodwin has drawn comparisons to a lot of good players, including a former Calipari guard, Tyreke Evans. That comparison came from John Calipari himself back in November, when Archie officially signed with Kentucky. “Archie is a combo guard who can really score the ball,” Coach Cal said of his new two-guard. “I love his athleticism and length. He plays kind of like Tyreke Evans but can shoot it more consistent at this stage in his career than Tyreke could.” But if you ask Archie, he only likes to think of himself as Archie Goodwin.
"I don't do comparisons because I like to think of myself as my own player," he told KSR in our one-on-one interview. "I'm an attacker, a scorer, I play offense and defense. I just go and compete and try to win every night." Goodwin led Sylvan Hills High School (Sherwood, Ark.) to a 27-5 record and a state championship in his senior year. He averaged 25.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 2.2 assists per game and was selected to play in the Jordan Brand Classic and the McDonald’s All-American games. Scout.com ranked him as the 14th best overall prospect in the class of 2012.   Watch KSR's entire one-on-one interview with Archie Goodwin...   Other profiles: John Calipari, Julius MaysNerlens NoelRyan Harrow
