It begins with the story of Labissiere surviving the devastating earthquake in 2010, a story most of us know by now, although Winn takes us even further into Labissiere's childhood. Then we're introduced to Gerald Hamilton, his American guardian who is part of the reason Labissiere's eligibility is currently in question. In the article, Hamilton said Ole Miss head coach Andy Kennedy offered him one of his three full-time assistant coaching positions, hoping to also land Labissiere. That, of course, did not work out for Kennedy and Labissiere is at Kentucky, insisting he will be eligible for the upcoming season. “I’m going to be eligible,” he told SI. “We didn’t do anything under the table.” There is plenty more on Labissiere and how he became the projected No. 1 overall NBA draft pick, as well as more on his relationship with Hamilton and arrival from Haiti. I highly encourage you to check it out. [After the quake: Skal Labissiere’s incredible journey to Kentucky]
