One of the pillars of Kentucky Basketball is servant leadership, and this summer, two Wildcats will head overseas to give back to the community. Lance Ware and Kareem Watkins will travel to Brazil with Sports Reach for a 10-day outreach trip. The pair will travel to São Paulo, Campinas, and Valinhos to compete in at least four games, while also conducting several clinics for local Brazilians. One of those games will be against Paul Metters, one of São Paulo’s top clubs.

Over two years at Kentucky, Ware has played in 49 games, averaging 1.7 points and 2.4 rebounds. This past season, he came off the bench for national player of the year Oscar Tshiebwe and made a name for himself as Kentucky’s enforcer. Off the court, he was named to the 2021-22 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team. Watkins has played in 10 games over his two years in Lexington, totaling three rebounds, two assists, and a pair of steals.

Ware and Watkins are the latest Cats to participate in the Sports Reach program, joining Josh Harrellson, Jon Hood, Eloy Vargas, and Dominique Hawkins. Founded in 1986 by Robby Speer, Sports Reach attempts to reach the world through sports. For more information on Sports Reach, visit sportsreach.org.
