Larry Brown says Calipari has "the best job in basketball"
John Calipari and Larry Brown are buddies going back to the days Cal was an assistant under Brown at Kansas and the Philadelphia 76ers. Brown became a popular name around these parts last year with his constant, and sometimes over-the-top, praise of the Cats, who he said could make the NBA Playoffs.
Brown heaped even more love on Calipari and the Cats yesterday on The 4 Quarters Podcast with Adam Zagoria. When Zagoria mentioned the NBA rumors surrounding Cal, Brown said Cal already has “the best job in basketball”:
“The reason John’s name is mentioned [for NBA jobs] is because he’s a great coach, and why wouldn’t anybody want to play for him? I really believe he’s got the best job in basketball,” Brown said. “Everywhere he goes, when we recruit, he’s recruiting five guys and he’s gonna get four and a half of them. We’re recruiting 150 and we’re lucky if we get two.”
