One of the best football players from the Bluegrass has found his home in the NFL. Jedrick Wills was drafted by the Cleveland Browns with the tenth overall pick. The Lexington native attended Lafayette High School, playing alongside two future Kentucky Wildcats, Landon Young and Walker Wood. In his senior season Wills was a First Team All-State selection, leading the Generals to the 6A State Championship Game before falling to Trinity 56-21. Somebody forgot to tell ESPN. Wills chose Alabama over Kentucky, Notre Dame and Tennessee. A three-year starter for the Crimson Tide, he helped paved the way for Alabama's win in a miraculous overtime National Championship win over Georgia in 2017. Following his third season in Tuscaloosa Wills earned Second Team All-American honors, then submitted his name as an early entry for the NFL Draft. Wills is the highest NFL Draft selection from the Commonwealth of Kentucky since Tim Couch was the No. 1 overall pick in 1999.
