Lexington PD asks people to avoid downtown while they investigate suspicious RV (UPDATE: All clear)
We pardon your New Year’s Eve celebrations for some troubling news from downtown Lexington, where police have asked people to avoid the area of Short and Market Streets as they investigate a suspicious RV in a parking lot:
🚨 SAFETY ALERT 🚨
8:30pm – Lexington Police is working an incident in the area of Short Street and Market. Pedestrians and motorists are asked to avoid the area.

As the lone Nashville resident in this group, I don’t need to tell you guys to take this seriously. Stay safe, everyone. Hopefully it’s nothing.
UPDATE: Lexington PD just tweeted that no explosives were detected near the RV and the area is all clear.
The downtown area was evacuated and the police department’s Hazardous Devices Unit responded to the scene. Officers made contact with the driver of the RV and no explosives were located.
The scene was cleared around 10:15 pm.
