Buehler, a former Henry Clay High School standout, is coming off of a fresh World Series win in 2020, where he contributed to the Los Angeles Dodgers' first World Series championship since 1988. Buehler pitched in Game 3 of that series, giving away one run in a six-inning stretch resulting in a Dodgers win against the Tampa Bay Rays, 6-2. A former Vanderbilt first-round pick, Buehler was also selected to be an All-Star in 2019, and likely would have been selected in 2020 despite an absence of an All-Star event, as the MLB did not want to host a competition due to COVID-19. https://twitter.com/MLB/status/1413891680416190464 In 2018 Buehler was selected to be a part of the MLB's All-Rookie Team, his first year in the majors. Buehler was a part of the 2014 Vanderbilt College World Series championship squad and the 2015 Runner-up team, staying with the Commodores until his drafting in 2015 by the Dodgers organization. In the 2021 season, Buehler's record is 9-1, going 5-1 in his last seven outings with a 1.64 earned run average (ERA). Buehler's record ranks him ahead of former All-Star and teammate Clayton Kershaw. The Dodgers are currently tied for second place in MLB with the Boston Red Sox, being led only by the San Francisco Giants. Buehler's teammate, Mookie Betts, was also selected to participate in the All-Star event but declined the offer, as well as Max Muncy, Justin Turner and Chris Taylor. The All-Star Game will be held this Tuesday, July 13 at Coors Field in Denver, CO on ESPN.
