Kentucky’s checkerboard basketball uniforms are not a hit among the fans of Big Blue Nation. Many of us have been crying for change since they debuted two seasons ago, but Mitch Barnhart won’t budge. Barnhart once told KSR, “Our players love it, our athletes like it and they like it on their uniforms.”

That’s not entirely true, though, because not all of the players love it. De’Aaron Fox said, “I’m not gonna lie to you, I don’t really like the new uniforms,” prior to his one season as a Wildcat.

Devin Booker tweeted a thumbs down when they were unveiled prior to the 2016-17 season:

Trey Lyles responded to Booker’s tweet with the trash emoji:

Now we have input from a player on this past team, thanks to Gilgeous-Alexander’s appearance on KSR. He did not hold back about his opinion of the unpopular threads when asked if he likes them.

“No, not at all,” he said. “I don’t like the checkerboard. I’m not feeling it. At all.”

Mitch, if you won’t listen to the people, listen to the players who wear actually them.

Stop the checkerboard.
